Hi guys

My 1.8 130bhp zetec doesnt seem to be idling properly it stays at around 1000rpm even when warm and i have a constant dripping of fuel from the exhaust.

Anybody have any ideas before i put it in a garage.

speaking of garages does anyone know a good one in the basildon area as i think it could do with a tune up.

Could be quite a few things but I suspect the engine temparture sensor may be a fault. It will think the engine is constantly cold so overfuels and engages the ISV to give more RPM. Best off getting a diagonstics test done to look for anything abnormal in readings or fault codes.

Ok have just found that it isnt petrol dripping from my exhaust its water. Does this mean my head gasket has gone or could it be something else?

One of the by products of combustion is water.

When a car overfuels i.e. startup there is more present and less gas flow so you will see the exhaust drip.

Once it leans out the air flow will carry out all the water plus the exhuast will be hot enough to turn it all to vapour

If it is the head gasket im hoping someone on here may be able to give me a hand to change it. 1 to save me some money and also id like to learn how to do a bit more stuff on the car myself.
