Guest anton1
Hello everyone. It seems as though the engine on my mk4 xr3i cab is a goner so I'm thinking of replacing the cvh with a zetec...after some brief research it seems the 1.8 is the easiest option? What I need to know is which engine do I need (silver top?) and which donor cars will this be found in? Thanks...
RobMk4TwinCarb
Hi as far as im aware it doesn't matter which zetec you use, all down to preference. The 1.8 is only easier because it's out of an escort a 2.0 will go in fine with some of the escort zetec bits. I think the later engine was the one I decided on for the future so the black top I think, as for which cars mondeo's/ebay there are loads even brand new one's for around 600. I read that if you go 1.8 you can still use the 3i clutch assembly. I just want it to be as easy and cost effective as poss! Instead of fixing the cvh I thought I'd go zetec so no more tappet noise too!I'm going to start removing bits from my car later as I'm prob going to do it in stages due to time and funds! The reason I initially asked about the engine is will search the breakers for just the engine and I don't want to buy an engine that's not going to fit or is going to be a real pain in the ass to fit!!! RobMk4TwinCarb
I think I read somewhere the best thing to do is get a 220mm efi flywheel and an rs turbo clutch and it will all fit fine. Well maybe some re-tapping somewhere along the lines....im just trying to remember what I have read there are a few sites out there with really good info.
