Guest calum89
my mk4 EFI cannot idle when it is hot, it will rev from around 700rpm to 1400rpm and sometimes cut out. Also when driving at a steady speed when its hot it will rev on its own causing the car to surge forward. I have tried cleaning the idle control valve but it has not made any difference and checked all the hoses that are part of the inlet manifold but theres nothing obvious that could be causing the problem. Anyone able to give me an idea whats wrong?

Guest shaun
if it gets worse when hot maybe air leak. But do know depends on what idle air control vavle you have cos Ford changed them to different 1's and mounted them in different place. Guest calum89
yea runs fine when cold, problems start when it heats up. idle control valve is mounted onto the side of the inlet manifold with 4 bolts which i have had to tap to a bigger size as originals where stripped.
