Guest wiser
Hi, I've come to the conclusion I need to change the lambda sensor. I know it is on the exhaust somewhere. But I have in the back of my mind it can be difficult to remove and break. Is this true? I don't want to trya nd remove it and break it. Any ideas? Also any ideas for where to purchase a reasonably priced, but decent, lambda sensor. Many thanks
Guest vinnyvangough
Easy to replace. Done mine on my Mk6 1.8 16v a while back. The key is a bit of heat. Let the surrounding area of the lambda get warm, (Usually just leave the engine running for a minute or two), then it will undo easily. I tried it with no heat and couldn't move the bloody thing. Bit of heat and was virtually finger tight
Guest welshie
no mate there not hard to change no worse than a tight spark plug if you have'nt got the sensor socket just slide a ring spanner down the wire and give it a good tug if it should slip the next thing to do as you plan on replacing it is to cut the sensor down with a grinder which will allow you to fit a standard 1/2 inch drive impact socket on it which'll get it moving for sure as far as buying one universal ones are fine you just reuse your old plug and use connectors provided , (any good motor factors will stock them)think the wires are 1 white 1 black an 2 grey but it doesn't matter which way round the two the same colour go .when it comes to refitting just use spanner there either 22mm or 24mm . hope this helps
