Few Questions About Efi Engine Bits

On the gearbox, the speedo drive, theres a bit between the gearbox and the speedo cable , connected to the loom, what does it do?

The engine flywheel sensor, how close is it to the flywheel, how much of a gap?

The haynes manual says if a sensor fails it will run, if i leave the crank sensor off should it fire up, just not run well?

Im getting power to the pump, i have pressure in the fuel pipe, taking a plug lead off and turning over i have a spark to earth,i checked the timing and it lines up at the top and bottom pulleys with the marks

i have no exhaust on it, turning over fine, wont fire, no fuel smell from the exhaust ports, but the petrol is pressurised

I have the crank sensor fitted in center of the hole, almost touching the flywheel , in a blob of `morphplast` low temperature plastic ( i just want it to start, i will make a better bracket when it does!)

How many ecu bits are there?

I have the map sensor on the bulkhead

something on the wing passenger side, with loads of wires

Cant find anything else, the haynes says theres an ecu under the center consol , cant find one, just 2 big green plugs ( if it should be there.....wondering if someones pinched it!, as it used to run! )

What injectors should it have, there dark blue ones, i think i changed fuel rail/injectors from my old engine but cant remember so cant be sure

If the ecu is under the center consol at the front, is it plugged into the green plugs 2 of them, both are about 1/4 inch wide by about 2.5 inch long, or are the plugs for something else and the ecu may still be there somewere

Ive just had another go, got it to just about run without the crank sensor in position ( fitting tomorrow after work ) ,

I traced the wires,i still cant see anything ecu like in the car and cant find any wires going there that are large enough?, the main loom runs injectors to bulkhead, along the bulkhead, down to the front of the car via the fusebox, round the front, then up the other side to the ecu type bit on the wing by the washer bottle, the only other bit is the map sensor

i moved a relay in the fuse box and it sort of ran, not bad for no crank sensor, i sort of remember possibly taking a relay out , but not sure!

On the front row of relays, the large ones, i have 2, there can be 3, the missing one is the one nearest the wing, i moved the center one so i had one each side and non in the middle and on turning over i had a few missfires and it started to run, as it did i turned off as its got no exhaust

Should i have 2 or 3 relays, what are they, one side has ignition symbol, one side that i just fitted looks like ecu symbol

the center has a round circle? whats the center one?

ok the ecu is behind the lower centre console behind a cover where u would rest ur foot on when on motorways say when in 5th gear it is right next to the clutch pedal, the injectors are blue yes
