hi all, bought my cabby drove it for 5 hours, went to bed woke up and it wont start.fuel pump not buzzing.had the head tech of ford trying to locate my fuel pump fuse.which is apparently around the size of a cigarette box and usually pink, but we couldnt find it anywhere.i know that sometimes people have even wired fuel pump to back lights before.also ive been told that since my alarm is playing up this can cause the car not to start as its acting like an ammobiliser.didnt even know it had an alarm till i locked it when i got it home and it beeped four times, thats the only time ive heard it.then ive been told to take all spark plugs out and fire up the car so it splurts all excess oil and fuel out then leave for a day to dry out.fuel pump has a live and earth.anyone know what i can do.engine is a 1.8 si,efi.cheers people

it beeped four times, hmmm, that sounds like a fault somewhere, normally they beep once, which door did you lock it from ? try unlocking the car from both doors with the key before actually opening any door, and before you do any of that take a look inside the car and let me know if the immobiliser lamp is flashing on and off at a steady rate, it sounds to me like the ford immobiliser is possibly stuck on, but check the following as well.

Has the pump actually got power to it ? i have known the actual pins that are in the connector plug for the pump actually corrode off, so even though you get 12v on the wires to the pump its not getting to the pump because the damn connector pin has corroded off, and the only way to get to these on the later escorts is to drop the tank.
