Guest StarLoc
Ive blown the engine up...., I got a replacement engine delivered , cvh 1.6 efi , same as mine to look at on the outside , i got my engine out of the car, put the new one all back together and theres no crank sensor housing bracket (should have checked first....i thought it was just the sensor ) theres a hole for it and there has been one there at some point, not now though, ive got no sensor or the mounting bracket i have them on the other engine, so its all back out again i cant get the flywheel off , even with the airgun, so i was thinking of using bearing retainer to bond the housing for the sensor in place so i dont need to remove the flywheel to put the screw in, but now ive noticed its a different flywheel code cast into it as well Are there different 1.6 efi flywheels? ,different sensors?,will it still trigger the efi or do i need to change the flywheel to match the sensor , can i get another sensor to match the flywheel on the same loom? Guest smoothy582
yes you can get different flywheels for cvh engine but all the efi ones are the same. easiest way to tell is look at the back. if its smooth then its a non efi flywheel and will need to be changed it should have a sensor ring that will look like lots of metal strips and best way to undo the flywheel bolts is too stick a bolt into one of the bolt holes for the gearbox bolts and lock the flywheel with a large screw driver. and a breaker bar to undo the bolts and tigthen the same way to the correct torque rich
Guest StarLoc
Thanks, both flywheels do look the same apart from code numbers , i just started wondering with there being no sensor actualy fitted Im not sure what the engines out of (but it had a giant bit of cast iron bolted to the outside back of it, mine didnt have it , like a large cast iron rear engine mount, more the size of a part off a transit van! the flywheels look identical shape maybe slightly different , but have different part numbers cast into them, is it likely to be different timing for different cars? If so do you think it will still run with my ecu? Ill have another go at taking the flywheel off, but i think they must have used some serious threadlock on it when they put the bolts in Edited February 16, 2010 by StarLoc
Guest smoothy582
timing will be the same you can get different sensors and mounts. it sound like the engine mount from a mk5 escort as long as the flywheel has the sensor ring it should work but it might need a different mount. your best bet is to use your flywheel, sensor and sensor mount. rich
