Alternator Earth Wire

anybody no were earth wire goes from alternator i have recently bought new alternator as i have issues with battery charging guessing next to or near headlight drivers side but not sure cheers :biggrin: also will be removing engine earth for clean up if theres any more i can do let me no cheers

also need to check dash for battery light fault is it easy to locate the bulb in the dash

sorry mate been out side on a freezing floor trying to see where it go,es but all my wires are in a sheaf and i cant see where they go ... looks like they all go to the starter motor but cant see the earth going there lol

will corect that just moved the car so i can get under it properly and all the wires on mine ... MK4... do go to the starter lol cant find a earth anywhere for it lol dont know if its right or not but i have never had a problem whith the car stuttering or cutting out and alternator light is not on ............... so now im asking if mine is right too lol ......... if its not broke i aint fixing it lol

im sure someone on here will let you and me too now know whats what pmsl

keep getting internal server error and post going up twice hence thats why i wrote this other post went on twice so i deleted it on this one sorry lol

Hmmm, i had a look at a mates mk 4 escort and he has two thicker red wires from the alternator that go to the starter like on Kryss's car and then a thin blue one, cant see any earth wire from this one either.

the blue wire is the earth for the battery light, if thats broke, then alternator wont charge battery. the wire goes onto the starter, and runs under the radiator with the rest of the wiring
