Guest djchurch2001
Can anyone help with me a few problems i am having. I brought an escort cabbi with an excellent engine but bad body work. I then brough a escort se 500 with fantastic body but rubbish engine. I had the cars side by side when i started the conversion so i could remove parts from the turbo car if i needed to. I fitted the complete turbo loom and engine into the se500 but now having issues with the fuel pump and starting issues. The turbo loom and engine was working fine before i removed it. The fuel pump is not making is usually buzzing sound but more of a i am dying sound. When i put the turbo loom into the se500 i cut the wires that ran along side the drivers door hoping it would be easy just to reconnect this turns out not to be the case as the wires are different coulous. Can anyone tell me is the loom from the rear lights and fuel tank different on a 3i than it would be on a turbo. I am hoping once i have cracked this the car should start. If anyone has any advice or pictures from previous conversions that would be amazing as i am starting to frustrated.
Guest murcus
it should be exactly the same from there, unless one is efi, then there will be a difference in the looms just try by changing the pink relay under the steering column then run a live from the battery to the pump that will illuminate any probs, and tell you where you need to go from therealso i would just double check all earth connections, and possibly, use a jump leed to earth the pump to the body, just incase it aint grounding Edited September 26, 2009 by murcus
