Guest johnkk36
hi. i have an escort cabby which did have a 1.8 escort engine fitted but it broke for some reason so i sourced a 1.6 engine just to get me back on the road. So i got the engine fitted and it wouldnt start. so i asked a few friends for ECU's and a couple started it but it ran very lumpy. I then went and got the original ECU that came out the car with the engine and even that didnt start it. i then put the 1.8 ecu back in and it started and sounds fine apart from it wont idle. so i sorted the idle problem out but now whenever i rev it above 2000 RPM it is really lumpy. Could this be because i dont have the 1.6 Wiring loom? as i currently still have the 1.8 wiring loom in. Anyone have any suggestions? thanks

Admin Paul Posted September 24, 2009 Admin Share Posted September 24, 2009 Have you reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a hour or so?
Guest murcus
i think its all down to the ecu, not playing game, like quoted you can try reseting it, but its prob not working with the afm, if it had been the crank or tps sensor, it wouldnt have started but could be the properties of the ecu, have you tried another 1600 ecu?
