Guest Kristian
Hi Guy's and Girls, I am looking for some advice! I have a M-Reg (95) Escort 1.8 Si convertible. I brought it off my dad because he had upgraded to a newer car. He had left it sitting for a couple of months before I managed to get my hands on it. The first few weeks I kept Starting it and seemed fine however I went on Holiday for a couple of weeks and when I can back and tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. The Lights come on the dash but not even the sound of the fuel pump engaging happens and it does not turn over. I Then Got a friend to bump start me and it fired up fine! So i assumed that it was just the starter motor that had gone! Can anyone give me some advice as to whether they think i am heading in the right direction thinking it is the starter motor? Or anything else I could be checking before I spend out on a new one! Thanks for Your Help Regards Kristian
Guest IanA
the starter motor? Or anything else I could be checking before I spend out on a new one! Might be worth checking the engine earthing by connecting a jump lead between the battery negative terminal and an engine lifting eye. Does it turn over then??? Starter motors are easy to remove and then check with a set of jump leads. Cheers Ian
