Help Please-Really Broke My Mk4 Xr3I!!!!

Really f****d up last night!

Mk4 Escort XR3i CVH EFI.

I have a brass t-piece fitted to the oil pressure sensor hole on the back of the block for connection to additional oil pressure gauge in car. Whilst originally fitting the then new T-Piece last year part of the threaded collar the sensor screws into cracked off but luckily the thread on the t-piece was longer then the original sensor thread so still screwed into the block and did not leak. Last night whilst fitting new sender unit I managed to overtighten and then snap off the T-Piece in the block!!!!

I assume that I cannot do anything with the engine in the car, what are my options now with it out apart from the obvious new engine, can I get the hole welded/repaired?

Can a new threaded hole be made for oil pressure gauge either in original repaired position or somewhere else.

Have tried some chemical metal to block the hole for now to see if it works as temp fix, will this work or should I be using something else?

Appreciate any help you can give please-feeling very stupid right now

my advice first off is find a machineing shop call them and ask their advice, i think it should be possible to drill out the bit thats snapped and then re thread it but then you will need to go to a shop that will supply a bigger t piece to fitthe slightly bigger hole most hydraulic shops should be supply them

Do you think this is something that can be done with the engine in the car?

it could but probably cost more for a mobile engeer to come out mate then for you to take engine out then take engine to them depending on there equipment they may even need just the block i.e. completely stripped no piston etc but it all depends how good they are as to how far you need to go

how far in is the sensor snapped at?, can you still see it, using the old one to measure the distance drill an hole in the sensor as its only brass and the block is stronger, and insert an easyout, this should take it out, just dont put too much pressure on these and snap one like i did, or then you'd have trouble
