Guest animal
Ok all hope you can help me out with this question... I’m currently in the process of buying a low mileage 130bhp engine to go into my mk5b cabby, the engine will come out of a mk6 but my cabby and the mk6 are both on a M plate so there’s only a matter of months between them, not that this makes any difference as they both look identical. What I need to know is when the engines are swapped will I have to change the ECU as my engine is just a 105bhp and I’m sort of sure I see something that states the ECU is set up for each engines bhp? Thanks all Edited August 18, 2009 by animal
Escort Cabriolet Club
Yes mate you need to swap the ECU, if memory serves its in the Passenger Footwell on the Left behind the trim !!!
Guest Eggsy
I'd stick with the paired 1 for the engine, even if yours is the same
Guest murcus
alot the the escort and mondeo 1800 engines are 105-115bhp, restricted by the ecu's and the camshafts, the xr2i rs1800 had the 130bhp engine and ecu, in order to get the full 130bhp, you can use the mondeo 2.0 cams, as they are the same as the rs1800 there would be no harm in trying both ecu's
