Escort Cabriolet Club
Hi All !!! I'm having a few probs with the Cab, I was told at CLASSIC FORD after the Rolling Road Session that it was running rich, after disscussing it with my Mechanic he said it could have somthing to do with the fan being perminantly on and its not heating up fully !!! Its been bridged as the fan switch was faulty, this is getting replaced but I wanted some input !!! CHARLZY
badger
yes fella if the car is running undertemp it will run rich as the ecu adjusts the mixture as and when it warms up and the performance/running will only be right at the optiman running temp
Escort Cabriolet Club
Many thanks mate, that will do for me, the Guy manning the Rollling Road at Classic Ford was just out to get £200 for nothing lol !!!
Guest EssexRich
Ignore the fact that the fan is on constantly, it's the thermostat that decides whether to send the water through the radiator or not. Check you have the correct stat in the engine. When the fail, the are designed to fail in the open position hence allowing all water through to the rad. Hope this helps, rich
Escort Cabriolet Club
The Problem was sorted last month mate, the engine heats up to optimum running temp now anf the fan kicks in as normal, you can feel the difference !!! Guest murcus
so was the problem the afm, because it was cold, and the cold start sensor adding more fuel, so the ecu would have detected that it was cold enabling more fuel causing overfuelling, was it throwing out black smoke? Escort Cabriolet Club
Problem was filxed like I mentioned above, it was not overfuling it was running rich, no black smoke just crap MPG's and lower end torque, all sorted now, runs nice and pulls nice !!! That was until I was playing with one of my mates MG-F 1.8vvc and my other mates ROVER 600 Ti, then I went back to my lowley underpowerd ZETEC PMSL !!! :happy001:
