Guest mk4stu
Hey everyone. Cab comes off the road in 8 weeks for a resto and putting a 1600 turbo engine in it aswell. Currently it is an mfi xr. Are the exhausts the same as I had from back of down pipe back powerflow made 6 months ago. Can I keep it or are they different? Cheers
Guest murcus
should be the same. but would have to check the distance and the flanges at the end of the turbo downpipe, as im not sure if its the same length as std manifold, im sure il would be

Guest mk4stu
Someone told me the rs exhaust has a bigger bore. So xr one is no good. Any ideas?
Guest murcus
as far as i know both are 3" straight through, although the scorpion is 3.5", the diamater you need depends on how much power you are running, and how much you want to run, normally 3" is good enough to flow rs turbo's to 220+bhp, some running alot more, but a 3.5" on a standard motor would lose back pressure, as you wouldnt have the turbo and boost for full use the exhausts should be the same, the only difference is the downpipe fron the turbo, compared to the manifold on the xr but it boltd on from the end, so cant see any problem

Guest Lee81
Sound cheers mate saves me selling me powerflow The exhuasts are different the XR has 1/2 inch less bore as standard than the normal ford exhaust. Janspeed, magnex and scopion are all slightly different. Different pipe section lengths and bends. A combination won't work. The best would be a magnex exhuast as it has the flexible front pipe section. On the turbo this is important as the other exhausts don't putting strain on the turbo housing eventually causing bolts to break off which is common. You could then have some fabrication work done to join it to your existing. ( Cheaper and easier to buy the full exhaust and fit the lot) Also you will need to make up some mounting brackets as two of them don't line up between XR Cab and the rs
Guest murcus
his exhaust is custom, so should fit, or be amended no probs, the scorpion exhaust also has flexi front pipe but ill have a look at my cab, it still has std exhaust on it, and i have scorpion pipe, so ill measure upi the odds the floor pans are identical apart from the double skin, so cant understand where the mounting would be different
