Hi everyone

I bought a cabby a couple of months ago - love the car but turning out to be a bit of a money pit (joys of buying private).

Its a K-reg (1993) MK5 (the original one) XR3i and the roof's pretty much at the state of needing replaced. The motor works absolutely fine, and the bars etc are fine. Just the vinyl's seen better days - suspect it's never been looked after properly.

The seams are away on both sides (especially on the passenger side - it flaps about in the wind!) and there's a tear appeared underneath the window. The rubber seal that attaches to the boot part is coming away as well. And in heavy rain, it leaks above both the doors.

I can't really afford to replace it, but with the Scottish weather bound to change back to its normal wet self, its more a necessity than anything else.

If anyone can recommend anyone in the Lothians area that could supply & fit for around 250 (long shot?) I'd really appreciate the info. I've had a look at some of the posts on here, including the sticky about replacing the roof yourself and it seems quite easy. Is it?

Anyway, I hope someone can help me out. I've had to spend about 450 on the suspension and other mechanical stuff in the last couple of months, so I'm trying not to spend TOO much more. But I want to enjoy the car ...

Thanks in advance

Allan

PS. I can pop images up, but given the extent of the wear, a replacement is definitely needed.
