just a bit of usefull info i read years ago

ive seen some mk5 with some of the std 1600 8v efi

anyhow 4 years ago when i had the xr2i, i bought the fse boost valve to adjust the fuel pressure, after i had cam'd the head

and chip'd it etc

ok so i looked up tuning back then and realised that the standard bosche regulator

is adjustable and increses the top end of the 1600 efi

when you look at the std fuel pressure regulator, is small and aloy, and has a shiny silver top on it,

you can either drill it off, or put it in a vice ans chap the top off, then inside if an allen bolt to adjust the fuel pressure so you can either turn it up which is clockwise , or turn it down for better econemy,

because its an n/a engine, i wouldnt worry too much about running lean, or pre detonation, as obvisously if you turned the fuel pressure down for better econemy you arent going to go for a top speed run.

i knew i read up alot of info on the cvh engine to convert to zvh

at jim hearne

a major builder, shows you in pics how to convert to rs turbo, how to rebuild and mate the zetec bottom end with the cvh engine and also how to fit custom management and more

he was annoyed at one point as people were stealing his info and selling it on ebay on discs to buy

not very fair as this spoils it for everyone

he explains whats needed to put the 1800 and 2.0 bottom end in,

ok enough blabing on

heres the link, possibly been posted before: http://www.quantums.info/

but also alot on head identity,

tuning etc at

BTW when you adjusted the allen screw did you notice any change in engine note at idle ?

I tried adjusting mine to see if it made any difference to my running prob in another thread recently but it did'nt work towards the prob which makes me think my pressure reg is bad.

Gonna take it off for some tests later.

Also Murcus have you read my last post on my prob askin for a favour if you would be so kind !

i cant remember if it adjusted the idling or not, the only way i would know, is to get a hold of my mate that i sold my xr2i to, and aski hit to turn it up and down

you would think if you adjusted the fuel pressure that it would adjust the idling but i have a funny feeling that the idle contol valve would stop it,
