Guest pjw Posted July 14, 2009 Share Posted July 14, 2009 i just put the car in to get a new downpipe, and theyre having snags locating the correct downpipe. Its an efi engine on a 87 cab, and the old downpipe looks like its been welded at the rear of the silencer thats on it. The one they got for it was too short. I think the engine may have been put a later date, as i was told they didnt have efis till about 90. This ties in as they might have ordered it by the reg number. Hello mate are they sure they didnt order the MFi downpipe as my local garage did that to start with but they dont have a silencer in! Guest pjw Posted July 15, 2009 Share Posted July 15, 2009 Managed to get it sorted - yes orais you are spot on, the downpipe they turned up with is off an MFi which is what the car would have been originally. Someones had a donor car as i also have a 90 spec interior, looks like they changed all the parts and kept the manifold out of laziness or ease of use. All fitted now, centre section and downpipe, gaskets, new manifold to head studs and bolts, £150 inc vat and labour. Not the best deal in the world but i know its the proper exhaust now and its new, so i should get a fair few years out of it. Ady, thanks for the advice last night mate.
