Guest animal
Hi All Need some info here as never attempted an engine swap before with a different donor engine, What I would like to know is how hard would it be and what changes & problems would I encounter if I swapped out my 1.8 16v Si engine from my 1995 Escort Cabriolet with a Ford Escort Mk5 RS2000 engine? Would it be a straite swap apart from the wiring or would I have problems with my drive shafts and gearbox not fitting? Need help here all as would really like this engine, Plus my cabbies half way to being a RS2000 Cabriolet anyways

Guest SteveB
hey animal okay there have been a few things i have encounterd already and the bloody think aint even in yet ha ha firstly was the cat if you buy an engine get one with a cat mine didnt have one so had to fork out £60 for a new one and thats cheap due to my mate getting it for me the prices i was getting at first ranged from £75 to £110 this is due to the rs 2k lump exhaust manifold being totally different to my zetec with the zetec the cat is part of the exhaust manifold not so with the rs2k its a complete seperate section which also means you may need a exhaust too though dont quote me on that one as my exhaust on at the moment is off an rs2k secondly and this more my own stupitity i forgot about the throttle cable again i spoke to my mate who works for andrew page and he couldnt get one PANIC that means only one thing ITS A FORD MAIN DEALER PART !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spoke to a uy who could order one in for me at £50 + VAT !!!!!!! YET ANOTHER COSTLY OVERSIGHT THE PRICE MAY SEEM REASONABLE TO YOU BUT WHEN YOUR JUST ABOUT FULLY UP ON YOUR BUDGET YOU CAN REALLY DO WITHOUT THE COST WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON ANYTHING ELSE I MAY HAVE BEEN STUPID ENOUGH TO HAVE OVERLOOKED PMSL

Vincygav
I have done this to my Orion from 1.6 cvh which was harder. But much easier when I did it to my Escort convertable as it was the Si with 130 zetec engine and the majority of it is the same as the RS2k. To convert Si 130, all you need is the engine, ecu, fusebox, exhaust manifold, n/s engine loom coming from the ecu, o/s engine loom coming from the fusebox, throttle cable, offside engine mount the others are the same as zetec, radiator hose that is near the alternator. If you are going to use the ABS setup, then you need the RS2k abs sensors, brake pipes, master cylinder and servo, abs control unit and abs pump under the servo. You could have get a second hand throttle cable steve for cheap from CR Spares (JD Motorsport), they do a lot of RS2000 mk5/6 partsas they are a specialist breakers for them.
