Guest eddie
i am needing some advice from the smart folk on here i have a mk4 escort cabby xr3i and i think the engine mounts are knackered as it keeps knacking my downpipes and now its started to wonder a little bit when your accelereating hard during gear changes, this should definetly not be worn bushes in the suspension components as it is fully poly bushed at the front, which leads me to think its definetly the engine mounts causing this problem, do you people agree with me and if not what do you think it is .also how do i check to see if the engine mounts are knackered and which ones will i need to change ro rectify the problem. any advice with this would be of great help thanks eddie. Guest Eggsy
I'm with you on this 1 Eddie - I take it its going to 1 side on throttle & back the other when you let off the gas??? There are 2 gearbox mounts & 1 actual enginge mount on the MK4, the best bet would be to do all of them m8, if your car is standard these mounts shouldn't be to hard to pick up on the likes of ebay. Guest Haddow
motor factors can stock these in or ford themselves. if its a daily car for normal street use then use only standard ones, high uprated engines and hard pushing ones can use fast road or race mounts but theyre not what id recommend for just a road car anyways lol
