Hi All

Have a slight problem with my wifes 1.8 Mark 5 Cab

In traffic it is getting warm and the cooling fan is not kicking in

I have changed the Fan Switch this morning and still no joy

I understand you can short the fan to work all the time - this would test the actual fan I suppose.

Can anyone give me an idiots guide to doing this - am about as machanically minded as your average frog

Hello Shane,

take the plug off of the the fan control switch and run a wire from one hole to the other (on the plug), this will short the fan to be on constantly. I would also advise you to check the fuse box to see if the fuse has blown for this circuit and not rely on this as a permanent fix.

Good luck mate

Is your thermostat working and known to be good?

I had a similar problem with my old Astra, and it was the thermostat reading wrongly and not letting the fan come on..
