Well some of you may remember that my engine went and died on me the night before classic ford.

I finally stripped it down and took some pictures for you to see,

I have only been able to put them on Facebook at the moment cos photobucket is being a pain! I'll put them on photobucket when I can!

by the looks of it i would say there was somthing wron with the timing, especially since you damaged 3 cylinders.

did you hear it running b4 u put it in the car?

Well fingers crossed!!

I've emailed the pictures down to Mark at Grove Garage as he has never heard of this problem, especially the hole in the piston,

Hopefully they will be able to advise me what to do now cos at the moment we haven't got a clue,

Especially as the 1.8 engine thats in it at the moment runs fine when cold and then starts knocking when it gets warm, Obviously she hasn't been run since that happened as I don't want the same thing to happen to this one!

right man for the Job Tracy - they done in 2 days what another garage couldn't do in 7 months!! lol

Personally I'd say it was badly timed up as valves have been hitting the pistons & underfueling to cause the heat & hole on the piston - seen it before but never the damage to the actual head either side of the valves like that.

Good luck anyway & hope you get it sorted soon.

Ok Mark has finally got back to me and it appears that fueling or timing isn't our problem here.

The problem is that something has gotten into the engine and physically caused this damage, He suggested that whatever it is could have been sucked into the Inlet Manifold and could be whats causing the noise in my new engine,

If this is the case then my new engine is now dead too.

I am going to the workshop on saturday to have a look and see what we can find.

Fingers crossed that its nothing to serious and that there isn't any major damage. If there is I might have to thing about an RS Turbo conversion, My little RS will have to die to save my cabby.

Any info on the RS conversion would be greatly appreciated as hubby has never tried this before, what would I need to take from the RS and transfer to the cab? I have the whole car so that isn't a problem,

Please guys help me out....I'm desperate....

hmmmm....possibly mark!!! LOL!!!

Have a feeling that when the valve broke it has bashed around in the engine for a while before it got embedded in the head!

Either that or there was shite in it from the previous owner - where it had stood for so long maybe? I dunno, anyways I just hope the 1.8 isn't dead too then i'll be able to get it sorted hopefully!

might as well strip the zetec and turbo that.....otherwise i recon the rs2000 convertion is your best bet. i personnely wouldn't bother rs turboing your cabby. cvh's are rubbish IMO always problems to sort out.

you want a nice strong chain driven rs2000 lump in it. 150bhp or more on it and plenty of grunt

I just want her fixed,

glen has given up hope on it now and is sick of working on her.

He suggested that the fueling side of things is still not working properly hence the 1.8 running fine and then knocking badly when warm, He told me to buy some carbs and stick on her and that will solve all my worries, Is it worth a try?

I'll keep the RS intact then and just enjoy cleaning and driving her!!!!

OR does anyone wanna come and work on my cabby and get it fixed for me?? Obviously I'd Pay!

Theres nothing wrong with the fuel pump. The original engine was a 1.6 and these always knock - I drove her till I killed the first engine, then went 2L and that died, Now she has a 1.8 and I'm gonna go down the carb route before I do anything else,

If the carbs work i'll be happy that I can just drive her again!

I hate not being topless in the sunshine!!!!

Charlzy - she's had the engine in her since last October!!! It just doesn't run properly and I don't want to kill another engine by driving her when she's not running right!!!

Fingers crossed i'll have the carbs next week and then can get them on and sorted next weekend - if the engine warms up nicely with no knocks then i'll be taking her to a tuning specialist in Silverstone on the trailer to get her set up properly!!

Can't wait to get it all sorted now!!!
