Guest Alex-R Posted March 2, 2009 Share Posted March 2, 2009 hey all, had a few problems for a while, the cars been on my drive sitting for a while now, as the battery wont charge, hoping to get it sorted for summer though! basically, the battery wont charge, none of the lights including the battery light shows on the dash (tried new dash) couple of other things, heater fan doesnt work, electric windows works sometimes, i was told it could be the earth strap but i have no idea where to find it, i have had a look around the forum but can't see where to go next. i've put a new battery on it and i have another alternator to go on, it's killing me seeing it sit there! any help would be great!! thanks a lot, Alex (1989 cabby with 1986 RS T engine) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest dansankey Posted March 3, 2009 Share Posted March 3, 2009 to be honest if nothing is working and it has a new battery then it does sound like an earth lead, get a good thick peice of wire with an eye on either end, (kind of like the earth on an amp wirink kit but shorter) connnect one side to the negative on your battery and the other side to a bolt on the body somwere ( coil screw, something like that) but make sure you use some sand paper to get all of the paint off and get it down to bare metal were you bolt the earth to the body or it won't connect properly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Alex-R Posted March 17, 2009 Share Posted March 17, 2009 got the alternator put on i had spare, aswell as my SS exhaust i got off here, got em both done for £45 exhaust sounds so amazing, well chuffed, sorry can't remember your username who i bought off. anyway.. the alternator is on and i ran the multi meter, it's reading 13.8, before it was reading 12, i'm hoping that's okay.
