Petrol Not Geting To Engine ?? Help Please (brentwood -essex)

I HAVE A ESCORT 1.8 CABRIOLET AND IT WAS WORKING FINE TIL THE OVA NITE WHEN I TRIED TO START IT .IT GOES TO START BUT JUST DOSENT CONNECT .I CALLED THE RAC OUT AND THEY SAID THE PETROL ISNT GETTING THE THE ENGINE .IS THERE ANY CHECKS I CAN DO THAT MITE HELP ME OR DOES ANY1 KNOW ANY1 THAT CAN HELP ME IN THE BRENTWOOD ,ESSEX AREA ???

First question, DOES IT HAVE PETROL IN?? lol

 

IF you're sure its got petrol then next thing is to check the fuel pump is running. It could simply be a fuse or the fuel pump relay.

 

When you start the car you should here the fuel pump charge. You do on a MK3 / 4 and I'm sure the later model do the same too. Can you here the pump?

if you cant hear the fuel pump priming check the fuel cut out switch,

 

if im right it should be in either the drivers or passengers side footwell bolted to the side of the car

 

somtimes that yan be activated by a kick in the right(or the wrong) place,

 

if it has been activated there should be a little red button that will pop out, push it back in and all should be fine
