Guest steelcabby
I've Always Used 35-40mm G-MAX Supersport. full kit. with a 205/40/17 tyre. no rubbing what so ever. and no arch mods needed. and i could also have a back seat full of people without problems. that would be your maximum tho mate. especially with 17's. but would of been better to get a full kit for 189 rather than get the ford shock and then add the lowering springs. hope that helps out Edited December 5, 2008 by steelcabby
Guest cossi
Mines dropped 40mm and on 17s with no problem.
Guest Spudster
Just a query? Are there different suspensions set ups for different cars? Would a full suspension kit for a tin top lowering 40mm also lower a cabby 40mm or would they not be suitable? would they work the same? or would they lower the car more or less? Guest steelcabby
a mk4 lowering kit for a tin top will fit to a cabriolet. same with the combi.. it may lower slightly different on a cabby as its heavier. but its not really noticable. rs turbo suspension comes in 25mm drop and 40mm drop from G-MAX. all fit all mk4's. Cheers mate, so the cabby is heavier (why is that?), so if anything a 25mm drop may turn into 30 on a cabby? Trying to get my head around this. Guest steelcabby
maybe yeah.....a cabby is double skinned, and the roof wieghts a fair bit too. not sure exactly how much heavier it is. maybe nearly 200 kgs. dosen't sound much but it is. if you look at my picture. i have G-MAX supersport suspension kit. its the 35-40mm package. fitted with 17"'s running on 205/40/17 tyres. no arch mods and loads of clearance. back was smooth and front was very firm. even with a full load at back, no rubbing. depends what ride your after. a 25mm rs kit will be slightly more comfortable. but with 17"'s it may rub. the 35-40mm kit is abit lower, but firmer, so less likley to bounce about and rub. depends what look you want. i think my hieght on 17"'s looked great. but i didn't mind a slightly firmer ride. a 25-30mm drop is far better for comfort and handling, also 16"'s would be better for the handling too. so its a great alrounder. personnely, i'd go for the 35-40mm, but if you have to carry a baby around, i wouldn't go any lower than 25mm on 16"'s.. hope that helps rather than confuses you...lol Edited December 16, 2008 by steelcabby
Guest MCBob
Use RS2000 springs. The RSlump etc is heavier so may benifit? Heres mine on RS2000 shocks and springs, is coming down lower in the coming months.

Guest Spudster
Cheers mate, it has helped more than confused! haha! Will have to keep it in mind when i get round to suspension and wheels, got a good few months of welding and bodywork til then though. I dont think the baby will be going in this car, thats what the estate is for, so when i get round to it the 40mm drop on 17s sounds good!
