 There was me thinking it was just Alfa 33s that suffer from a multitude of electrical problems. On buying my mk 5 cabby, only 1 speaker worked; bought new ones, fitted & rewired; turned on stereo, to wire speakers to unit & unit heated up! Also, whichever speakers were attached to wiring behind dash, only rear left speaker came on ie. white & white/black (front left speaker) when connected, resulted in rear left speaker coming on. Tried all combinations to get + - connected-but no luck. Found red/white wire cut amongst wires in loom; can't find other end . Don't know whether this is cause of non working speakers or non working central unlocking from driver's side. (Can lock but not unlock, from driver's side). Instructions for stereo gave non earthed speaker as possible cause of heating up.

My heater blower died, its not the fuse; so has my power hood. Any advice gratefully received. Many Thanks. Mandy

Mandy, Mandy, Mandy,:biggrin: sorry i couldnt resist saying that lol.

right then, lets start with the speaker colours on your mk 5

Left front should be yellow/black +

white/black -

Right front should be yellow/red +

white/red -

Left rear should be yellow/green +

white/green -

Right rear should be yellow/brown +

white/brown -

I say should be, because i know they can sometimes vary, depending on the system installed, and also ford some times changed the wire colours in the loom, so what might have started out as white and red from the stereo could actually be white and black at the speaker just to confuse you :wow:

Have your heater and roof stopped working at the same time ? if so there could be a faulty earthing point somewhere causing a common problem,
