Guest udders Posted November 15, 2008 Share Posted November 15, 2008 Hi all, not so much of a problem but just an annoying one. As standard you have to have the ignition on but the engine off to put the roof up and down. Now, is it possible to re-wire it so you can have the engine running (but obviously not moving) and operate the roof? I find it a pain in the ass having to turn the engine off if you stop at a set of lights etc... to put the roof down. Anybody already done this? Guest Cabbytech Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 (edited) On the Mk 6, cut the blue wire off about 2/3 inches down from the roof switch, isolate the blue wire that was going to the switch, i put mine into a scotch lock and then shrink wrapped it. Then simply connect the blue wire from the switch directly to a good earth point, then you will be able to open and close your roof with the ign on and engine not running or with the engine running..obiously if you want to operate the roof with the engine running, i would strongly advise that you pull over before operating the switch... hope this helps..................
