Guest joyrider
bought a roof off eBay from a guy in Essex - advertised as mint and when i looked at it it was mint, well the blue Mohair was anyway, got a guy I know to fit it and he has said that the frame is bent and won't fasten properly and the doors won't shut properly he has said that he hasn't bent the frame BUT having read a few posts could it be that as the roof had been folded for a period of time prior to pick up and fitting that it needs stretching out to it's full size if it is the frame that is bent, would it be possible to straighten it?? is there anymore in Hull or East Yorkshire that anyone could recommend to possibly seek further advise as I have only gone to this guy because he has 'played' about with his mk4 cabby and was the only person I knew that could possibly fit it arghhhhh!!!! any help or advise appreciated thanks Alex

Guest jay
i doubt very much its bent unless the cars been rolled, but cant of been if the roofs mint?, had the same problem, was because its been sat around folded, mine shrunk believe it or not, been sat in my shed around 5 years as i kept it because its a power hood frame, connected the cable round the back and couldnt clip it shut was about a foot away from the pillar :wow: so took the cable back off and it shut fine, need to get it re-covered its shrunk that much you wouldnt believe. Guest markeyboy
i have used hot water on a roof before to help it streatch, it softens up the material just enough. try giving the roof frame pivet points a oil up too (3in1 or somthing simular should do the trick)
