Guest jonnymac
can anybody tell me the list of problems i would have if i were to fit a complete s2 RS turbo engine, boxand loom into a mark 3 xr3i cabriolet? I'm sure I used to know all this but this has been my first ford in years. Thanks
Guest benny
as i aware, the only prob is the loom, you should change over tanks, too, raditor, prob a few more things too, isnt the s2 a efi and the mk3 mfi? so you'd have to put the ecu in, as the mfi injection doesnt have one so to speak? after that think there pretty straight forward, both a cvh block
Admin Paul Posted October 17, 2008 Admin Share Posted October 17, 2008 The S2 turbo is a MFI mate, the Fiesta Turbo was EFI
Guest Alanman
When I did it to ours there was a lot to change. I'm sure there was easier ways but the car was almost a shell when we was doing it. I changed everything right down to the petrol pipes. Are you changeing the dash to Mk4 too? I found a few problems when I did that. The speedo doesn't go through bulk head in the same place. Steering rack is different too IIRC. Luckily I had the donor car parked at the side. If I needed anything I just got it off the other one. The one thing I didn't count on, the Radiator and fan being different. I needed to cut my front panel to acomodate the fan. There's a lot to change but nothing that would be too much of a problem. ALanman
Guest Alanman
You can get anything to fit with a bit of persuasion and a grinder.
Guest jonnymac
I'm just looking at options, as S2 parts are easier to find than S1. Am i right in thinking the gearbox cradle is different too?
Guest Eggsy
I'm just looking at options, as S2 parts are easier to find than S1.Am i right in thinking the gearbox cradle is different too? you can keep the mk3 gearbox (fit an LSD) & uprate the antiroll-bars to S1 or 16i - engine will fit no problem the major diferences are the loom & piping for the turbo/ic etc. all my stuff in my mk3 is S2 but its mainly aftermarket ic's rads etc - & they where a bit of a pain in the rs
