Guest Spudster
Hey Guys, Hopefully someone can help. I found a puddle in my drivers side footwell of my MK4 cabbie, so decided to take the interior out and took carpet up to find the "underlay" under the carpet rotten and drenched, started to pull it up and it fell apart it was that drenched. So it cant be salvaged. Plus it stank of horse manure it was that damp and rotting. :help: As a result i need to replace it?!?!? Does anyone know where i can get some of this from? Or is there anything I can use instead, do i need it, i assume i do, as its looks to have done a very good job at keeping the water away from the metal as there was only slight rusting (which has now been ground off). :msg3: Cheers

Escort Cabriolet Club
Fisrt things first, sort the leak out, once you have done this source another Carpet, a Mk4 tin-top one can be made to fit but is probably the same, as for underlay, use, well, underlay for household carpets !!! Cheers, on with sorting the leak, found one place it leaks but over the last week i have found 2 other places and i have also realised my cover for my car is rubbish as well so thats not keeping any water off the car. Would you just use normal underlay or would you use something like dynamat as well to try and minimise road noise? Also, i have heard that some people use insulation (roof insulation?) in the doors and panels to help reduce noise. does this work? is it worth it? are there any disadvantages? Thanks
