Well, as title says, i have no lights..

Well, actually to be more specific, no dipped beam.. main beam works, side lights work, dipped doesnt..

with engine running, one click on the indicator stalk turns on sidelights. a second click to dipped and the lights dim a lot.. still on, but not even enough to see anything! main beams works fine, both flashing and on all the time..

ive changed the bulbs, ive checked the fuses, the two under bonnet and the one in the fusebox, ive changed the relay and still nothing!

Please help.. i know a cabby is for use in the sun, but i do like to go out to places at night, and at the moment i still cant!

if im correct the lighting circuit is in 2 seperate parts, left side and right side i think they each have their own fuse too,

from what you have told us i would take a guess at the light stork,

try replacing it with a known good one and see how ya get on

a bad earth will only affect one of the light settings?

interesting..

i will have to look into this.. probably at the weekend..

Cheers eddie

anyone else wanna suggest something that i could try?

sounds like a bad earth, it sounds like its using the other lights as a parallel path hence causing a volt drop, check all connections earths and plugs on lights

hope this helps.

i take it if i use a multimeter and check for continuity (the bit where it shows 1 and drops to 0 if its good, and somewhere between 0 and 1 if it needs improving) between the earth points that i can find and the battery negative, then that should tell me which one/ones are at fault?

reason being is theres one below the coolant hoses, near one of the lights which is difficult to get to but gives a reading of 0, where as the gearbox earth stays at 1 and doesnt move.. its the one under the airbox.. i think thats the most likely.

Testing continuity like that may not find the problem.

Removing and cleaning is probably the best way, one at a time till you find it then do the rest too.

You could also try creating an extra earth connection directly from the battery to the engine/gearbox/bodywork/earth on the lights etc till it

starts to work again.

Lots of things to check unfortunately.
