Wiring Loom

Hello folks

Was just wondering how easy it would be to swap a wiring loom from a mk4 to a mk3.

I have a mk3 cab, that apparently was originally a GL. ???????. Did they make such a model, according to the fella i bought it off (who owned it for 14yrs) it never had a rev counter but a clock in place, but had the computer warning lights at the top. And didnt have either ghia or xr trim.

Anyways i digress, Over the years it has had various bits of wiring added, removed to the point where it is just a mess of wires. What i was wondering is if it is possible to fit a mk4 loom from say either a gl or ghia spec escort/orion (not injection, as mine isnt) into a mk3 to tidy things up a bit and get things working as they should. At some point it has had a mk4 dash fitted which has been spliced onto a mk3 loom which has just left a mess of unused wires all over the place, some live some not.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before the car goes up in smoke.

Thanks

hello jam mate it is very possible but very time cosuming as you need to strip a lot of the car out dash, seats carpets etc put most important think is mark all the wires and were they came from and go on both wiring looms(old and new) and i would advice taking lots of photos of the wiring as your stripping it out (for ref if you get stuck on where something goes ) then just take your time concentrate hard and go for it most of it will be just unplug the old and plug the new in hope this helps mate.
