DON'T TAKE NOTHING APART !!!! :excl:

This is a common problem, if the motor is running but nothing is happening then you need a replacement COG that goes inside the pump itself, we sell repair kits in the Club Shop, I think they are £15 !!!

If you need help replacing it just ask !!! :icon_salut_gb:

Do not open the roof manually unless you have turned the T piece key on the pump in the boot - you don't want to do more damage,

Open the boot and check that the T piece is done up - should go Clockwise to tighten If I remember correctly - then try the button - if it doesn't work you can turn the T piece the opposite direction and operate the roof manually

Once you have tried that come back and let us know what happens!

Hello m8 & welcome to the cab club - having read your post its definatly sounds like the plastic cog in the hood pump that is affected, available here from the club @ £40.00 http://www.escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/forum...e&itemid=25

this is ideally the most cost effective way to repair you hood pump, after spliting the pump & re-fitting the new cog - be sure to use the gasket ect (suplied)

I would recomend using the genuine ford pnuematic fluid when re-filling you pump - use a syringe as its the easiest & cleanest way for doing so - ford part number 2U7J19G518AA (pump fluid) costs around £18ish inc the dredded.

Hope this helps

Eric

My pump doesn't have a 'cog' and it still works fine, i recently had to repair my pump as the seal was split.

My pump is dated 94 ( MK 5 iirc ) So where if any should the cog be, as i have had the whole pump apart and its not there.

the cog isplaced between resivior and pump all elec hoods av em mate

Mine hasn't. it has 2 pipes in the resivouir one has a mesh filter attached.

The pump itself comes into 3 parts, Fluid window, the main body and the Pump itself.
