I dont want to sound stupid but how easy is it to replace the bulb that lights up my dials in the dash on my mk5 I dont know what you would even call this light so can't find a replacement bulb. all I know is the dash used to glow red with the lights on and now it doesn't. Im sure this is a simple job but i am mechanically inept. any advice anyone ?

well first of all, you need to remove the philips screws that hold the dash cowling in place, and it would help to remove the top steering column cover. Then remove the 4 screws that hold the clocks in place and tease the clocks forward and to one side, then reach behind the clocks to disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and the speedo, this is a bit tight, so you will prob struggle a bit. Once you have removed the clocks, you can replace the faulty bulb, and replace everything in reverse order.
