Sorry if this has been a regular topic but i will be in need of some help guys....

Just about to buy an RST engine mfi with loom, box, rad etc all ancillaries to be placed in my mk4 Cabby Xr3i Mfi.

Dropping the engine n box in not a problem.

I'm just not too sure how to go about doing the loom for the car? Am i right in thinkin i can just go from the fuse box?

Gonna be doing this conversion in my summer after my exams (currently studying Automotive engineering at uni)

So if anyone has done this conversion or has pictures help of how to wire in the loom would be much appreciated

Thanks

Jon

it will be easier to change the whole loom from the drivers side door sill. when you take all the engine out of yours. strip the interior and take your old loom out. if its your first time, then label the plugs on your loom so you can refer back to it when putting the rs turbo one in.

most people snip the wiring from the drivers side sill. to save you feeding it through to the back lights etc. loom takes about 2 hours to do, its very easy. once you have the loom in and routed in the right places, drop your new rs turbo engine in mate

Why would i need to remove the whole interior if its only for the drivers side sill? From the loom from the drivers side does that go straight to the fusebox (sorry car electrics aren't really my thing lol). Do i use my old fuse box or the RS one and aren't al;l the plugs and wires colour coded?

thanks

there are a few ways of doing it - the most reliable is to change the whole loom & just splice it for the rear lights as everything else is the same or chop it in the bay - 1st choice is the best & most reliable

removing the whole interior just makes it easy to work in. you can strip the interior in 30 mins. very easy. then you will be able to move freely to sort the wiring out. trust me. i've done it loads on times.

just remove whole loom mate and fit rst loom straight in no need to splice or cut anything really

and doing the same conversion to mine i changed the full loom took about 45 mins altogether mate

Dose'nt take to long to put a new loom in, (2 hours) just be careful as the wires are old and can get snagged and damaged

If you do decide to cut and splice, I'm pulling the MFi loom out of my cabby at the moment, its only gonna end up on eBay for a few quid, so you're welcome to it if it's any good to you?
