Guest SiV6Si
Hiya guys i'm currently wiring in a boot release switch ( as found in the Hard top version ) So far i have fitted the actuator and loom BUT i can't seem to find any reference to the Boot switch ( i.e. what wires do what ) I've looked in both versions of Haynes manuals and also searched the Internet. If anyone has fitted this before your assistance would be greatfully apreciated. Many thanks Si...

Guest SiV6Si
Thanks for that but what i should of asked is , The boot release switch - which pin is the feed to the solinoid ?
Guest markeyboy
i may be wrong on this but if it had 4 pins, 2 will be for the illumination and 2 will be the actual switch. if ya have a multimeter or somthing simular set it to read ohms or audio bleep setting and test across the pins the illumination should give you a constant bleep or an ohm reading the switch should give you nothing untill the switch is pressed once identified i dont think it matters wich side you connect to +12 and what side to the solenoid, it should work all the same hope this helps mate Edited April 21, 2008 by markeyboy

Guest ste
On the boot switch it runs a negative pulse to the alarm/central locking module, behind the cover in drivers footwell. from there it then sends a positive pulse to the solenoid, via the white with green stripe wire on the plug nearest the door. hope this helps you
Escort Cabriolet Club
Oooops, sorry mate lol, I have 4 leccy windows and an isolation slide on my controls so no boot relese button !!! :wow: I used a Mk4 Festa Switch and it has four pins, two for the illumination and two for the release button like Markey said !!! I added a Red LED but it was for the Old Cab, swapping it with a White one for the New one !!! Edited April 21, 2008 by ESCORT-X4GC
Guest SiV6Si
Ste, the wireing on the boot release switch is Brown, Brown Green, Brown Blue, Brown White. Not what i was expecting to be honest. So i take it if the wiring loom is in the car for the boot release then Hopefully the rest will be there. just i can't find the loom for love nor money... And this has the live feed to tailgate solenoid it runs down the drivers side sill up near the rear seats and into the tailgate via the grommet. i may have over looked something in the diagrams but i don't think i have, hope this helps.
