Guest Eggsy
WHATS THE POINT OF NOT DECLAIRING?? TO SAVE A FEW £'S - IF I WAS YOU M8, I'D BE THINKING ALONG THE LINES OF HOW CAN I KEEP MY LICENCE Edited January 28, 2008 by Eggsy
Guest turbocabbie
My best mates a cop and runs a 380 bhp RX7 with Apexi management so knows his cars, and I know others with Skylines, Evo's not to mention RST's and Cosworths its surprising how many car enthusiasts there are in the police force, my mate states they look for certain modified cars specially for the reason of undeclared mods including cabbys as a popular undeclared modification is the RS Turbo engine. Although the majority of these cars are discovered once they have been involved in an accident with an innocent party and the insurance company examines them prior to refusing to pay out a number are being taken off the roads by police. Personally im all for it, I would hate for some uninsured driver to smash into my car, I think they should seize the cars and crush them if found, no matter what the value. With 12 points and a love of putting your foot down, I would be looking to do track days imho

Guest turbocabbie
do u know thats a great idea and one i honestly never thought of will have to look into that We track a Peugeot 1.6 GTI which cost under a grand and 200 for a second hand roll cage, we threw the interior away apart from the front seats. its on limited mileage insurance, drive it to the track days.. change the wheels (so there is a set with tread for road use) and use remolds and part worn tyres... its great fun and cheep + I get to keep my licence because all my fun and speeding is done on a track
Guest markeyboy
if only just declaired my mods this year, for the simple fact that it was way to expensive to ensure the car in the first place let alone when i told em about the mods. i have heard a few stories about people getting pulled over and having all their mods checked out. never happend to me when i get pulled tho (dosent happen to often tho). iv done it this time more for the fact if it gets nicked or have an accident i will stand more of a chance of recovernig the money spent rather than trying to save pennies the first time round
Escort Cabriolet Club
I recently swaped my insurance over from one cab to the other, ALL MODS were declared, even the bumper mods that are not finished, it was not even that much added on as they are all baisc, lights, back box, K&N etc, it covers me if I have a bump as they can refuse to pay out if theres mods you didn't tell them about !!! :wow: Plus Adrian Flux were VERY kind to me, they did a great deal on the Cab with 15% off, I asked why the mods didn't cost much and they said that they are car entusiast specialists, nuff said !!! Guest ukchopper1
Ive just renewed my insurance, and to my suprise putting a 200 bhp rs engine in my 3i cab and declaring all the mods has reduced my insurance by £35 how cool is that!!!!!
Escort Cabriolet Club
LOL, nice one mate, glad you got a bargain !!! My insurance for the 1.4 Mk5a 'DASH' Cab was £730 with no NCB, the Mk6 1.8 GIHA with all the Mods and 1 years NCB was over £300 cheaper with the same firm !!! Guest benny
tis is the reason i dont wanna turbo mine, ive been pulled a few times, nothing ever said about my exhaust or body kit, but for the sake of t30 quid ive delcared them this time, as im gettin an agreed valuation on my car and need to send in some pics, i think its worth while if it gets stolen,
Guest rambo
ideally you need to declear everything you do, but some things are exactly the same catagory, for example if you have some kind of alloy's on your car from the factory and you change them to mondi or escort gti alloys they are still under the same catagory, the same goes with spoilers, the only difference is if you go for aftermarket option bodystyling or for a big upgrade from what you already had, like going from 14" xmas tree alloys to rs7 diamond cuts etc.... phone up your insurence company and ask them on there policy, im sure you can do it anonamously, like ringing for a quote etc.... thats what i have been informed by a friend of mine that is CID and has a tpyota mr2 running 350ish bhp (funny as he used to be a traffic cop)
