Guest no2lurch
apart from the obvious cam upgrade, would there be any advantage in swapping the head on my 1800 zetec for a 2.0 head? i got a silver top 1800, and i can get a 2.0 head for about 50 quid with cams etc, and i was wondering is it possible, and more importantly, is it worth it? Escort Cabriolet Club
Like Daz said mate, if you have the 130 engine you only getting 6 BHP more and its not much for the money and effort, then again if you have the 105 or the 115 like me it well worth it !!! Guest ajs_20
i wouldn't even bother doing a head swap it will probably kill the bottom end quite easily. just do the 2.0 Cams, throttle body and MAF sensor on yours and that will push it to 130 BHP. Or you could just use a 2.0 Mondeo engine as they are reliable and more torquey but if you do that make sure you get the gearbox with it. They are an MTX 75 which are 10 times better than the standard IB5 found in all other petrol Escorts!
Guest no2lurch
the thing is, i have a mk4 so the only gearbox i can use is the cvh one due to the others being too wide. also, i am using he efi cvh loom on the zetec so i dont have a maf sensor. the reason i went 1800 zetec was cos i thought it would be easier to convert as no need to change the sump, water pump etc.
