Guest angledangle Posted January 20, 2008 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Hello, I have previously been a member on here years ago after having had two MK4's but computer crashed and email address was unusable so gave up but here again with 1995 cab calypso model in purple and looking good with rs kit and decent wheels . Anyway would love to know if someone may have the answer to my prob. had the car for over 8 months no probs but friday way home from work it cut out,ignition lights on but turn key and nothing,no fuel pump noise and no starter not even a click,left for ten mins and turned key and it started but only ran for two mins and stopped again and again on turning key-nothing no pump priming no starter nothing.Rac took 2 hours to come out and first turn of key it started so because it was running for three mins left me and of course as he pulled away again it stopped with all same symptoms. finally got car home and batterys great leads tight. does anyone know why such a fault as i thought a relay that operates pump and ignition. all lights on dash stay on but engine cuts out and after time span you hear pump prime again but after few mins dies again and with nothing on key !! love the car and being bright purple makes people remember you just dont like their only thought being i was the one at the side of the road. any suggestions welcome as its going to be given to daughter in summer . Guest angledangle Posted January 20, 2008 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Hi thnx for the replies ,ive had a short time to look and it seems to be turning over more 99% and i now suspect fusebox after taking it out to clean,i did find a small white box on the back of the ignition coil which has one wire on it had the wire broken off(dont know what it does). still the fuel pump has stopped priming when ignition switched on (relay is the brown one behind box ?) so if it turns over everytime i will then concentrate in dealing with pump relay.get the feeling more you disturb the more you can have play up !!!. thnx and if anyone can put an answer to what the white box on ignition coil does thnx.
