Guest Seren Posted December 26, 2007 Share Posted December 26, 2007 I've got a few problems with my new Mk6 (I think it's Mk6... 1997 model). Could anyone help me? I'm totally clueless about cars really, this is my first one I've had to do work to, I had a Mondeo before for a few months. 1. A few years ago a little sh*t removed all the bolts on the rubber trim round the back of the hood. Any hints on where to get replacements to I can fix the seal back on again? 2. The passenger side roof handle hook thing doesn't marry into the hole it's meant to go into to. Tried pushing and pulling the roof, to no avail. Drivers side goes back fine. Any tricks? 3. When I push the button near the handbrake for the roof control, nothing happens. No movement, no noise, no nothing. Previous owner said the roof needed "help" but didn't say how much! If I put it down manually, will I be able to put it back on my own, being a little tiny, 5ft girl... 4. Best way to remove power hose marks? Guest markeyboy Posted December 27, 2007 Share Posted December 27, 2007 for the bolts you will probably need to go to fords i think you can adjust the roof handle to make it streatch to fit into the hole, pics would probably help the roof isnt that heavy to pull back up. mine stoppped working for a while due to a sticky relay, iirc there is also a thermal cut out and a fuse in the boot next to the pump, probably worth checking those first Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Escort Cabriolet Club Posted December 28, 2007 Share Posted December 28, 2007 If you have no joy with the roof your self it would be an idea to get it checked by an Auto Electrition, if the roof pump needs a new 'COG' (Common problem) then se have them in the Club Shop, if your pump is knackerd I have a mint one for sale !!! Good luck !!! Oooh, I'm so annoyed! I went out an bought the Haynes Manual that covers all the 90's escorts and orions INCLUDING (it says on the back) the Cabriolet versions. Yet I can't find anything in it about the roof! Grrrrr!! Oh well, at least I know what to check in the engine now to make sure it's running ok... Hehe, was funny yesterday.
