Guest badgerdid
Hi I have a couple of electrical problems i hope you can help with, mk5 H reg cab 1. back passenger side light comes on only sometimes 2. Left back indicator only works occasionally, and today the right back one also doesnt work, front ones work but flash very fast. 3. Temp gauge not working 4. rev counter not working 5. petrol light on most of the time I have read some posts on here and solutions are indicator/light stem replace and maybe fuse box replace too. I am off work now for 13 weeks, yahoooooo so i have time to check, will be testing for voltages in the right places etc. any help and suggestions appreciated. is it worth me stripping the stem down and cleaning all contacts etc or is this not possible? is the fuse box easy to replace, is it connected by plugs or hard wired. Think i need a manual. Edited November 23, 2007 by badgerdid
Guest sjc
if you ca read electrical diagrams mate get a manual. for the lighting fault if you have V at the bulb check the earth, i usually will just touch another peice of cable to the chassis to double check. see if you can pick up a set of clocks from a scrappy cheap and swap them. Guest matt-the-dj
fusebox is easy to get out, several multiplugs, i stripped mine right to cicuit board to reapir dry solder joints , but your faults may be slightly different.
Guest badgerdid
I think i might have sorted it, i started to check the fuse box and found the multiplug at the bottom moved and the floor light went off. Since i have pushed this back into position tightly its been ok. Rev counter still not working but at least lights and indicators are ok and the petrol light isnt coming on, heres hoping anyway. Proberbly with vibrations and pumps etc it dropped out slightly

Guest badgerdid
thats not fair, why cant the answer to all my problems just simply involve poking things in.....lol :happy001: LOL, this didnt sort it in the end , driving from work, put foot on brakes, engine cut out, took foot off brakes i could start it again, foot on brakes, cut out, LOL Middle wire at the back where the three from the battery come to had burnt out on the circuit board, damn. £35 for another one and everything now working has it should. Should have listend to you guys in the first place, but its only the advice on here that made me look at the fuse box, so thanks for that saved me a lot of time. Just one note, the heated windscreen works now, but only the passenger side, LOL is there anyway of fixing it?
Guest matt-the-dj
sounds like an air pipe could of come off inside the dash, or a blockage maybe..i think you have only one air pipe which is fed from the blower and not a fan at each end of the motor shaft as if there is two maybe one is not spinning.
