Hi all, hope you can help

I have been sourcing the forums about sorting out the leaks on my god damn cab as the other day my passanger carpet was absolutely drenched. Lifted up the carpet n a big hole of rust had formed, fixed it up now though.

I think i read on here that someone said there was a design fault with the mk4 cabs that behind/under the battery and fusebox the water channel would leak into the foot wells? Can anyone clarify this and how i could sort the problem out?

Regards

Mk3/4, around the battery tray & fuse box are a well known "bad spot" & water trap for these models. I suggest as Loo has to have a good investigation.

The chances are you'll find corrosion.

In the meantime to stop the leak you could clear it up as much as possible & bung a load of silcone over, would have to be dry though to adhere.

This will make a decent temp repair until you have your battery tray repair panel welded in - upto £15 to buy.

thanks for your quick replys.....

Just finsised tracing the water leak and you guys were right the whole of the battery tray was rusted through now i have a big hole lol!

About welding the plate, i would obviously need to buy the plate first right? and then get someone to weld it in?

Is this the right one and good price? http://www.lkperformancestyling.co.uk/prod...mp;product=3058

Also anyone know of any welders that will do this for me for not too much?

See my pics below

Also if this is a common fault wont it happen again even with a new plate?
