hope youve cracked it with the relay, and hope it hasnt done much damage. I cant see any commmon points in all 5 faults, obviously all but the brake lights are connected in the dial cluster itself (incidentally one of the enable wire for the heated screen relay is taken from the alternator warning wire) but still cant see the connection with the brake lights, unless the brake light switch wire is close and has got a bit hot.

If its not fixed with the melted relay change, let us know whcih wire it was that sparked, a quick spark to bodywork isnt going to overheat and melt a relay unles it welds it together....sorry to be a pessimist

  • 4 weeks later...

RIGHT AFTER A LONG WAIT FOR PARTS AND TIME OF WORK PROBLEM NOW FIXED ALTHOUGH IT WASNT THE FRONT HEATED SCREEN RELAY THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM THE HEATED SCREEN NOW WORKS, AFTER LOOKING AT THE WIRING DIAGRAMS AGAIN AND TRACING IT BACK I CAME TO FUSE NUMBER 17 THIS IS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL. ALTHOUGH THE FUSE WAS OK THE WIRING UNDER NEITH WAS NOT BUT NOW FIXED AND RUNNING AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE SJC.
