Yes!! Finally Got The Roof Working

Well I finally got it working and it turned out to be the thermal cut off. I'd checked across each side and was sure I had a voltage. In the end I replaced with a normal 20A fuse abd it worked, so need to a get a thermal cut off fuse. I popped to the scrap yard and took out the wiring loom of the MK5 just in case, however the fuse was missing and some idiot had cut off one of the relay connectors.

So I now have a loom and 3 relays and the old rams from my MK6, if anyone wants them, just pay postage and there your's.

I then fitted a bypass so I can operate the roof with the engine running. The wiring is different on the late mk6, so if anyone wants to do it, heres how.

Next to the battery is a connecter with 1 blue wire going into it, disconnect it and close the bonnett.

Then remove the drivers kick panel and find a blue and red wire taped together. I used a scotch lock and connected a wire to a switch, the other terminal on the switch is connected to an earth. That's it, with the switch off the roof dosen't work flip the switch and it will work with ignition on and engine running.

glad you got it sorted dave.....where did the wire on the saftey relay end up 87 or 87a

It was 87a, I guess the diagram was wrong. Just need to source a new thermal cut off.

Just earth the blue wire. The blue and red are already taped together in the footwell, the red is the live for the power roof. If you don't want a switch, just earth the blue wire you disconnected near the battery, to the negative terminal. (the side of the connecter with only 1 blue wire)
