My 1996 Calypso is blessed with a CVT gearbox. Drove 250 miles over the very hot weekend and drive progressively started slipping. Have been advised to change transmission fluid before doing anything else. Haynes Manual says change the strainer and seal in the box. Have been quoted £245 for the strainer (just the part)!!!! Is it vital to change the strainer - has anyone else resolved a similar problem.
