  1. I finally got the sill cover sorted, the plastic cover was still in good condition so i got a piece of galvanised steel cut to shape and glued it to cover and got it fitted. The car has now been sold and should be getting picked up this week. If I had the space I would have loved to have kept it but its going to a good home, it had been in my family for 21 years, I hope it stays with the next owner for a long time.

  2. Its mot'd and back. I've moved house in the time its been away, I still need to sort out the 90 spec sill cover on the drivers side, it also needs a new battery which I'll get this week. Im not happy with the new front number plate, so need to order one in the original older style font, it needs detailing too but apart from that its pretty much ready to be used, just in time for autumn!

The only Mod's I'd do to this is

Fit The Corello Front Spot Lights

add a set of Recaro front Seats

and Fit the RS Four Spoke Steering Wheel

That would be Spot on then

I'd Keep the old bits to return it back the way it was if required

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Fords, just did a google search for the 4 spoke RS steering wheel, its awesome! I think it'll be staying stock for now, I'm guessing the bill from the garage is going going to be quite big! Cheers

Have you got your 90 Spec Brackets?

There not cheap if you need them

Yes I managed to get some a few months ago for £41, I was pleased with that

I went to see the car last night, the garage has done the cambelt, replaced the water pump, and replaced a few brake hoses. They've got a few more things to do but they're working on it between other jobs. Its getting there 🙂

  5. Hi all, I've finally started work on my mums XR3I Cabriolet. Mum got the car in '98 and only used it on nice days, then unfortunately someone tried breaking into the car in '01, luckily they couldnt get in, but mum got paranoid and took it off the road. Its been in dry storage since then, its only covered just under 43k. The plan was to get it back on the road and for my mum to use it but shes not interested anymore so it might be for sale, but the more I look at it and do things to it I'd like to keep it myself 🙂

    Heres a few pics,

So far Ive given it a good clean, the interior ha come up great, it still needs a good polish, but there are a few stone chips/scratches at the front that need addressing, I've been trying to find some paint but I dont know what the colour is called? On the data plate it states PA9 but when I search for this I cant find it? Does anyone know what the colour is called?

I've removed the passenger door lock that was damaged and hopefully today I'll receive a new lock from a guy on ebay who supplies locks to the spare key you provide.

The metal plate inside the 90 spec sill trim on the drivers side has rotted, luckily the actual sill on the car is in great condition, as I've been unable to find any 90 spec trims I'm planning to remake the plate as the actual plastic cover is still in good condition.

Also Im still searching for a pair of Carello 640 spot lights that arnt too expensive!

Its booked in for a service and cambelt change and then hopefully get it mot'd

  6. Thank you for the replys I appreciate it.

I thought the sill cover would be hard to find, the outer rubber bit is ok its the metal insert that has totally rotted. I think I'll try and remake this in stainless or ali.

I'll keep a lookout for foglights, thankyou for the pics RScab

I think I've found a guy on eBay who can get a new lock to work with our spare key so thats good.

If and when anything happens I'll start a build thread. Thanks again

  7. Hi, I thought I'd join the forum and show you my mums XR3i cabriolet and ask a few questions.

She bought it around 1994-95 I think, and used it sparingly on nice days. Its been off the road since 2001, dry stored in the factory where my dads worked, he's now retired so its now in their garage. Its a two owner car with 43k on the clock.

I'm planning to get it cleaned up and back on the road but I need a few parts but I dont really know where to look. I've looked on ebay but don't really know what parts are correct.

If anyone has any bits or can tell me where to look that would be great.

    We need:

    1. Front fog lights - My dad removed these because the chrome inside had gone rusty, unfortunately he removed the brackets too and they've now been lost

    2. Drivers side sill cover, I think this is called a 90 spec kit, but could be wrong! Again dad removed it as it was bubbling and he wanted to make sure the sill wasnt rusty, luckily the sill is fine but the cover needs replacing.

    3. Passenger side door lock - In 2001 someone tried stealing it and damaged the lock, luckily they never got in and this was the only damage, it was shortly after this that mum took it off the road so it never got sorted.

    4. Hood cover - We never had one so it would be nice to get one.

I think thats it, it needs a good service but runs great, heres a few pics
