soumitss
Hey everyone. I am putting a small gym in a spare room in my apartment and I want mirrors on one full wall so I can check form when I lift. The obvious concern is that I will be dropping weights near glass, and I have no interest in finding out what a shattered wall mirror looks like. Is there a safe way to do this in a residential room, and does the mounting method matter as much as the glass itself? The room is about ten by twelve with one window, and the floor is over a downstairs neighbor, which is its own consideration.
hydrogenn
Mounting matters as much as the glass, yes. For a gym wall you want the mirror bonded and mechanically supported rather than hung on clips, and you want safety backed glass so that if something does hit it, the pieces stay on the backing instead of on your floor. Keep the bottom edge off the floor by a few inches and put your platform far enough back that a bar cannot roll into it. Glass Factory https://glassfactory.pro/ does gym mirrors around Manhattan and they specified the backing without me having to ask, which I took as a good sign. Worth mentioning to whoever comes out that you are lifting over a neighbor, because the flooring and the mirror get specified together in a room like that. Rubber matting under the platform does more for the downstairs relationship than anything else you can buy.
