soumitss Posted Saturday at 11:21 Share Posted Saturday at 11:21 Hey all. Question from a guy who has never done this. I am on my feet all day for work and my toenails and cuticles are in rough shape, plus one nail that keeps catching on socks. I am not after anything cosmetic, I want it properly sorted by someone who knows what they are doing, with clean tools. That last part is what worries me most, honestly. What should I look for on hygiene, and do salons in Brooklyn take walk in guys for this kind of thing? I am in the Sheepshead Bay area and can go on a weekday if that is quieter. hydrogenn Posted Saturday at 11:24 Share Posted Saturday at 11:24 They do, and you will not be the first man in the chair that week. On hygiene, the questions to ask are whether tools are sterilized in an autoclave and whether they open a sealed pouch in front of you, since that is the visible proof rather than a claim on a wall. Anything reused without that is a hard no. Why Not Nails https://whynotnails.us/ in Brooklyn runs a structured pedicure with proper sterilization and the tools came out of a sealed pouch when I went. If that nail keeps catching, mention it when you book so they allow extra time rather than rushing it at the end. Weekday mornings are the calm slot in most salons, so if your schedule allows it you get a less rushed appointment and more time on the awkward nail. Bring the socks complaint up rather than assuming they will spot it.
