you can just change the pump/rams and mounting pins if you take the two locking handles /rams and ball joint pins from the manual and put them back on the other car it'll be the same the biggest problem is the wiring i personally would just wire it up direct i'm sure there is a guide on the site somewhere.

coil packs are a real common fault on zetecs might be worth a look

right the best way is to change the whole loom /ecu as one also the drive train for both are the same apart from rs turbo's have a lsd but if you buy a rst donor car you car just transfer what you like i'd upgrade brakes and engine/gearbox mounts as well.

both frames are the same just different rams and pins plus remove the locking tabs which bolt on. where about are you?

i have a complete roof with a dark green mohair roof (the rear window has been removed but i have another) if your intrested ????

i had a simular type of problem with a 1996 model once that had sat in the garage for a few years and it turned out to be the front flexible hoses had perished and in effect closed the inner pipe hole to next to nothing, so the pedal felt right but the calipers were not moving far and the brakes were not working fully, once i had replaced them all was good .now i'm not saying this is the problem but might be worth a look.
