Just smell it, if it smells of cat pi** then gearbox oil. If its engine oil then not leaking from the gearbox but from the engine

if the car was running but not idling then it will be something else m8 not timming

The one on the bottom will not change only the one on the head will need dialing in if it's a piper / Kent etc if standard cam is in then top timing mark should be used, pull a spark plug out and turn the crank over with a 19mm spanner and make sure there's no resistance :-) ding forget the crank will turn twice for every 1 turn on the cam
